Medspa Legal & Legislation > Starting A MedSpa In Nevada: Medical Director?

I have the same question everyone else does. I am certified in both and want to add the service to my studio. I am a licensed cosmetologist 32 years. I cannot find the answer as to whether I need a medical advisor in Nevada? I don't know who to ask. 2 Dermatologists I asked said they are not interested in something that they don't already have. They have unused machines they are trying to unload, because they can't keep people hired at 16$ an hour to preform the services. Any suggestions anyone. I want a DO and will pay for their service. Just don't know who to ask?

Yes. Performing medical treatments (including cosmetic medicine) requires medical licensure. Depending upon Nevada's regulation of "medical spas" you might be able to use a NP or PA, but you are going to be required to have medical professionals overseeing or performing the treatments directly (again, depending upon the state).

That's why these are called 'Medical" spas (Big M, little s).
