IPL & Laser Treatments > So many lasers - how will I ever learn them all??

With all these lasers out - is there somewhere a physician can learn about all these? I read on this website some comments saying they're all the same stuff, repackaged. While I don't believe that, is there somewhere to learn about all the technologies (Nd:YAG, Fraction, CO2...) are? I have no clue what any of this stuff means and wouldn't want to treat patients without knowing all of this stuff well. Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is a lot to learn. Probably best to pick one particular clinical application - say hair removal - and just focus on that initially. What are your goals with this?

My goal is to treat my patient's who want help with their acne, hair removal, spider veins, skin tightening, acne scars... i get inquiries at an already established FP practice but don't know where to start... thanks

You don't have to "learn them all". YOU HAVE TO LEARN THE CONCEPTS BEHIND THEM ALL.

The light spectrum.
The differences between spot size and why it is done a certain way.
The physics of lasers.

Once you know that you will know that most of the laser sales reps are selling the same thing with a twist.

Would you like a lime with that? etc.

Remember first concepts and physics then you can understand the reasoning behind the different configurations.

Am in General Practise and planning to do some aesthetic work. .Am practising in south east Asia and wanted to get a laser for treating pigmentation disorders.Does anyone have any experience with the SpectraVMR from Lutronic? How does it compare with the Medlite C6? Is the medlite any use for minimizing pores?

I probably sound like a broken record, but make a YAG 1064 your first purchase. It's the safest and most versatile but also gets good results in lots of applications. Most potential revenues in a single modality, in my book.....
