Cosmetic IPL Laser Reviews & Comparisons > Cynosure Elite MPX laser - help!

I am a physician who is new to the med spa business. We are looking to purchase our first laser. We are looking at a Cynosure Elite MPX. We want to perform LHR on all skin types, treat spider veins and telangectasias and pigmented lesions, and perform facial rejuvenation procedures. We will also be offering botox and fillers, peels etc.

Can anyone help me figure out which laser we should start with? We are getting a relatively good deal on a new cynosure elite MPX but I hear horror stories online about service. The sales rep states that service has been improved a lot, but I'm not sure that is the case.

What laser would you recommend for me to buy?

Is anyone in Ontario Canada who can give me an idea of Cynosure's service in this area?

Thanks kindly,

We use Candela lasers exclusively after a horrendous string of experiences with Cynosure. We owned an earlier version of the Elite MPX that the company made obsolete and stopped manufacturing when it brought out a new product. Since going to Candela we have noticed better results, and the lasers retain their value extremely well.

It is too bad that there is so much MISINFORMATION availalble on line and everyone seems to have an agenda. At the end of the day Cynosure is a publically traded company and has won numerous awards for both their product line and their customer service. They currenty manufacture and sell 2 versions of the Elite neither of which is absolute. I have been in and around the laser industry for over 15 years and have seen what goes on behind the scenes of many of these companies. Cynosure is one of the few companies that has their act together. They were the 1st company to put both 1064 and 755 in one box and all the people that I spoken to prefer the cold air cooling over any other method. You can't go wrong with Cynosure and the ELITE is a BEST IN CLASS type of laser. You will not be dissapointed.

We had the Elite and upgraded to the Elite MPX. Partly because of the faster rep rate and also because of the high number of Fitz skin type IV and V patients that we see that can benefit from combo of low level Alex sequentially pulsed with Nd:YAG.

I have loved it because I am the only one at the office treating hair. It also has an 18 mm handpiece which also saves time.

Hello New Doc.
I saw this posting and wanted to touch base with you. I own an elite work station. it is a great piece of equiptment. I also have the Affinity Q-S. I have been dealling with Cynosure for 2.5 yrs. when I first got my Affinity it had a few glithches. the technicians were called and someone was sent out right away. although they say 24hr service calls it would always take 2 to 4 days for the techs to get to the shop. Once there, they were great and worked hard to make sure the problems were solved.

I post this openly because i have nothing to hide and feel confidence in the product.

I am actually looking to sell my Elite, WHY? I was a silent partner in the purchase of this laser and my two partners have recently filed personal Bankruptcy. I never planned to be a hair technician. I baught the Affinity to remove tattoos because that is what I do. I own a tattoo shop in Calgary. NowI have this Elite that I never wanted. Yes I use it and it works amazingly well, it is not my focus.
It needs to be in a better inviorment. not a tattoo shop. honestly. I can't afford it.

here are some facts,
I have 2 yrs remaining on the lease.
the buy out is ewhere around 65thous.
my payments are 2500/month.

I am looking for a buyout, lease transfer, partnership, or anything else that may interest you.
You can find these lasers used for 40 to 50 thousand. I know mine is more but I will give you aditional cash as an incentive.
it was fully serviced last month and has new lamps and optic cable,(quite expensive items) As well as a warrenty. I will through in the cooler for free.(15000.00valve, new)
Please email me if you are interested or have more questions, Sondra

Hi Sondra
Can you please Email or call me if you still have the cynosure elite,

Paul

As a former service engineer for Cynosure, I can say that the best thing is to stay away from their products. Revenue is the only thing of importance to their 'customer support team', if you are on time and materials you will be in serious trouble, and if you are a contract customer, the contracts are very expensive and do not include 'pm' or preventative maintenance visits.
The one selling point is that you can use refrigerated air instead of the cooling gels but that can be worked around, as you can purchase a German cooler (new or used) independently. Also look at Fotona lasers; they were being marketed overseas years ago, they are fantastic and I believe they are now for sale in the US. Good luck!

I own the Elite MPX

Until now I had only trouble. Last week came a brokedown of the head pump. 12K for Repair!!

Stay away!!

MPX is a new technology laser and has two chambers in one device. In the beginning you'll have not too much hair removal patient and maintenance costs will be hurt too much. Look at this costs and compare two lasers. I think a standalone Elite will do job for the first years. Than you'll need the replace Elite with the MPX. I think best thing in MPX is 18 mm spot.
Good luck.

I have had the Elite MPX laser system as well as the Affirm in my clinic for 2.5 years, great technology but the worst customer service ever. I would not purchase another technology from Cynosure, as most of the time the service technician has no idea how to fix the machine, as well as not having parts with him. I lost over 10 days of business due to their incompetance, as well as paying extremely high cost for repair.

I recently purchased the Mistral by Pollogen and the experience with them was fantastic. Now I just have to sell this Elite MPX...

Hope this help!

Have you heard of Quanta's Light A Star? It too is a 755/1064 system. Gives you the ability to add a 6 filter IPL, 532nm laser (facial vascular) and 1320nm laser (acne scaring, skin tightening). Rock solid reliability...

Let me know if you would like my reps info. The company is great to work with!
