Injectable Treatments: Botox & Filler Injections > Burning Botox

Why would facial Botox cause so much burning?
Would it be because injecting too deep or to concentrated(1ml in 100U botox)?

Is it real Botox?
genuine Botox from Allergan not supposed to burn

06.3 | Unregistered Commenterjohn

Yes it is Botox from Allergan.

I have never encountered any burning sensation from my patients. Did you use preservative saline to reconstitute Botox? Maybe you used something else that induced vasoconstriction, leading to burning sensation?

06.4 | Unregistered CommenterBelle RN

I've never had it burn. What did you reconstitute it with?

Questions like this are ridiculous. Please provide the information that anyone would need in order to give an informed opinion. Please don't waste anyone's time with leading questions that just illicit more questions and make you appear as though you shouldn't be injecting Botox in the first place.

If you use "non-preserved 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection USP" it does not burn. If you use something else like aqua ad injectabilia it will be painfull.

Actually, the "preserved" saline is the one that burns the least. The the preservative is benzyl alcohol and it acts like a local anesthetic.

If you do not believe me, try it on your staff. Do not let them know which is which and inject a small intradermal bleb with non-preserved sline into one arma and preserved saline into the ohter. I did this to all of my staff and ALL of them felt that the preserved saline hurt less than the non-preserved saline. I also had it done to me.

Thank you LH, on the spot as always.

Thank you LH. In fact the preserved saline is much more comfortable and has solved the problem. I agree the alcohol makes a difference.
As for NPderm, please do not post if you are not going to be serious on this site. Thank You.
